Emmaus boy: 3 years of happiness!

When I found them playing together
The park was too small for him
His smile too big for the day
The brothers rode horses on the grass
The ducks were floating around
A little lake inviting for a splash
Lollipops sweetening the hour
A zebra friend
A father strong hand
A good sunny morning!

PEACE…G.

MONDAY NOTES: Good Nostalgy

I watch that TV show, The Voice, and oh my gosh those singers are good aren’t they? Recently one of the contestants, Dia Frampton (yes, I’m cheering for her) sang a song that took me all the way to my teenager years, years ago… crazy how the time goes by and songs keep stamped in your mind hum? I remember, back in Brazil going to a school friend’s birthday party, they played R.E.M version of the song and I didn’t know understand a word of it, but I loved it!
Dia Frampton did an awesome rendition of the song, but I need to post the one that is in my head since when this song came out. Here you go:

R.E.M - "Losing my religion"

* Double deck pineapple upside down cake Danielle baked for my bday this year!

Good Monday my people!

Well, to celebrate father's day yesterday here is my little contribution:

Edition: VIEW BRAZIL*

One thing that fascinates me are clouds. I could stay a whole day looking up watching their beautiful design. Blue background and white powerful, heavy, fluffy clouds… or a sunset w/ all the oranges, reds, yellows, blues…. makes me understand why God is The God!

That was how this beautiful day was in Brazil, last March, while I was traveling w/ the choir tour from my school (no I’m not in school anymore ok? I was working as a translator, coordinator, tour guide, photographer, designer, fan, tourist… – Self, go back to the point!). K, well, the buss broke down, as you can see in the picture bellow, and I just couldn’t waist such beautiful clouds in the sky. I wanted to photograph the whole sky!

I asked some of my friends to model for me so I could practice my skills and at the same time freeze that beautiful scenario, in the middle of nowhere in Brazil, waiting for another buss to pick us up.

Here is Maja, she is a coffee addicted Croatian. Really she is worse than me, what intrigues me is that she is an opera singer, can you believe? (Note: caffeine dries up your vocal chords, so it’s not a good
idea to drink a lot of coffee before you sing J) Anyway, she pulls it off, she sings well, is funny and has always something to talk about. I told her to pretend she was a rock star walking on a lost road of Brazil. And that’s what she did.

* This is a segment of the blog where I will be bragging about my beautiful country. You will be seeing shoots I did in Brazil during my trips, also comments and even cultural tips, in case you can’t resist to visit one day.

Hope you enjoyed!

PEACE…G.

Danielle's Model Pics - Teaser

While some photographers need to fight to have someone to model for them, I have the benefit of being married to a top model (!clink! clink! Self: you are adding points for later ;)

You know that saying, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder?”  I agree w/ that, BUT, I also think that there are things and people that can cast the majority of beauty votes. For me, Danielle is a good example of it, she can pull off a messy hair and still look gorgeous, don’t you agree? I know, I know, I am lucky!

More to come.

Featuring: MONDAY NOTES - the first of many

You know it when you first wake up... M O N D A Y... everything enjoyable is in the past (the weekend that just ended) and everything "to do" is right there waiting for you to get out of bed. Isn't a frustrating feeling? It goes against the "human rule" of newness is refreshing! Doesn't it? Since Monday is the first day of the week, when everything should be starting new... lots of potential... lots of possibilities... lots of chances... and yes, I'm feeling like sleeping in... snooze button again.

After breakfast today I decided to put things upside down and revert that lazy feeling of Monday Mornings, focusing on something that encourages me, something I love: MUSIC!
I started to learn piano when I was about 9, and I've been involved w/ music ever since. Well, I decided to start a feature on my blog, to share a little more about my life other than pictures w/ you guys: music mix well w/ photography, art, and life in total don't you think?

So here it is, all together under the title of "MONDAY NOTES." A week starter different than sleepy :)

She is a singer that is playing in my ears almost everyday for the last few weeks: Adele.
The voice, the style, or maybe because I can relate to some of her words, I don't know... A mix that I still can't figure out why I like so much.  Just press play and you will hear what I'm talking about.

Adele — Chasing Pavements

"Choose something else other than be grumpy" monday for you all!

B a Sr, n b COOL!

One of the greatest pleasures of working w/ photography and visual arts is the ability to create original products that make the clients happy. Lauren is a Senior (congrats again cousin!) - Class of 2011. She was one of my first Sr clients, I did her pictures last semester, now w/ the graduation and parties going around her mom ordered some cool products to show off her beautiful Sr daughter w/ pride.

Here are some of the custom made products she got:

  • A 16x20 stand out to display a collage of her favorite images, ready to hang in the wall
  • An original graduation party invitation card
  • Cool wallets
  • A DVD video to show her pictures to everybody during the party, in a pop star way!
  • My favorite item: a cool 12x12 signature photo book, for her friends to sign around her beautiful pictures. Since her year book is not ready yet, her mom had the idea of ordering her own memory book, isn’t she a smart and stylish mom?
Check all them out:

Talk to you all on monday, have a great weekend!
G.
